In February 2007 my spouse and I chartered a helicopter for a flight over New York City. The skies were clear and it was a very beautiful but bitter cold day. The shot was taken out of the small window that we could open to get better shots. This picture carries a particular significance for me, being a legal alien in the US. All our lifes we have seen the Statue of Liberty standing at the Hudson and greeting us on the other side of the Ocean, holding some much promise and hope for a new start on another continent. She also appeared almost as a guard, especially during the more than 4 years while we were waiting for the final approval of our permanent residence. Today our perspective has changed, our kids go here to school and we became a part of our local community. It us now, behind the Statue of Liberty, that look out to the old world that we left for good. Sunday, February 8, 2009
